Aventurine (Green)

Aventurine is a member of the quartz family. From Italian per aventura "by accident", this gem was not widely known in ancient times (possibly because differing names were attributed to it). In Africa however, it is considered to have great powers - (the power of the Forest Gods).

A powerful and all-purpose healing gem, it is considered helpful in treating circulation, heart and lung disorders as well as those of the adrenal, muscular and uro-genital systems. Known to assist in the treatment of eyesight and hair problems, it is also used in treating hypertension and migraines.

Aventurine is a general tonic and promotes emotional, mental and physical well-being, it also enhances personal creativity and originality, (see also: How they Work).

It is used for general protection and is soothing and receptive, and improves self-confidence and vitality. Used in treating problems of the central nervous system, it also assists with relieving insomnia and stress and promotes malleability of mind. In sleep and dreams it aids with mystic awareness and overall healing and supports communication with some specific spirits and guides (mostly forest and nature beings). Said to enhance creativity, it also calms in times of trauma. (see also: Colour Significance).

It aids to keep you safe on difficult journeys. It lets you see clearly (even in the dark) and also promotes good fortune (especially with money and careers). Said to encourage Lady Luck - particularly with regard to money.

Astrologically it is associated with Libra (23 September - 23 October). Used in the areas of the Sacral or Solar plexus or Heart chakras.
